Alexander Curtius
The living world of forms in nature has always been of great fascination for Alexander Curtius. Alexander draws from this background in his diverse activities as a teacher, designer, and sculptor. In furniture design, Alexander brings together his experience as a carpenter and sculptor. He has dedicated himself entirely to organic design; as the human body consists of differently rounded surfaces, this is how seating or reclining furniture with organic surfaces becomes comfortable and functional. Thus, the design options are endless. He draws on many years of experience in the processing of raw wood. Alluvial wood and root wood, in their lively variety of forms, are the starting point for his sculptures, in which he always strives for the reduction to the original form. Alexander has lived in Lower Engadin since 2000.
